You may or may not have noticed my radio silence the last two weeks. I attempted to pump out a post or two in the last 14 days, but I pretty much threw that plan right out the window. On August 18th, I flew back to the States for my brother’s wedding, and have enjoyed a blissful couple of weeks getting to know my adorable nieces, relishing moments with loved ones I haven’t seen in 4 years, and drinking as many sonic slushes as humanly possible. Those 14 days ended up whizzing by as I knew they would, and here I am sitting in the airport waiting to board the my first out of five flights home to New Zealand.
I realize I totally confused 90% of my Instagram audience who thought I was still in Dunedin, when I started posting photos of Texas, New Mexico, and Missouri. Sorry folks.
I started my US trip in El Paso visiting my sister, brother-in-law, and her two sweet little babies. I absolutely love being an aunt, and ate up every moment I had with the little girls. My sister and I then took a solo trip to Missouri for my brother’s wedding with the two little ones (both under two), and boy was that an experience! We’re pretty much pros now at hauling car seats, strollers, and babies through busy airports. If you’re interested in hiring us for your future family vacations, just let us know.
(p.s. check out below how adorable my new little niece is!!!)
We took a side trip from Kansas City down to Branson so we could visit the ol’ alma mater and see dear friends. Catching up with old professors and advisors was super refreshing, and I loved seeing the campus and reliving the past. Oh to be a college student again. Those were the days.
My brother got married at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, and the wedding turned out to be perfect! I have never been to a renaissance festival before, so I wasn’t sure how it would all come together. It did, and we enjoyed the rest of the day walking around and taking in the sights. I always thought our wedding overlook the beach was an unconventional experience, but my brother has me beat for sure!
I have 36 hours of travel to look forward to and my flight is currently boarding, so for now this is goodbye. I’ve got some great posts lined up for you next week! Stay tuned.
Thanks for hanging in there with me!
